Get Accurate Metrics: How to Connect Your Cadence Sensor to the Peloton App

Peloton App for Apple iOS allows you to connect a Bluetooth-enabled cadence sensors directly to the app. This will allow you to see your cadence as you cycle, and help you follow the instructor’s cues.

Two key inputs that determine how hard you are pedaling while cycling are cadence (or speed) and resistance (or resistance). It becomes more difficult to maintain the same cadence or speed as you pedal, the higher the resistance.

The pedal revolutions per hour (RPMs) are used to measure cadence. This will allow you to improve your pedal stroke efficiency by measuring and tracking your cadence. Peloton instructors will emphasize hitting a target cadence and then adapting resistance to suit your individual efforts.

Peloton App for Apple iOS can support third-party Bluetooth cadence sensor, which allows you see your current cadence right inside the app.

How to connect your cadence sensor on Apple iOS

Simply turn on your cadence sensor and then either put it on your crank-arm, or your shoe to connect it.

  1. Create a cycling class using the app.
  2. Click on the button for connected devices.
  3. Tap cadence.
  4. To pair your cadence monitor with your device, tap the name of your device. You should start to see live cadence metrics.
  5. When you start a new workout, and your cadence monitor is on, the monitor will pair automatically.

If your cadence sensor is having difficulty pairing, make sure it isn’t paired with another device. The battery might need to be changed or recharged if you have continued problems with your device.

Any Bluetooth-enabled cadence sensor should work with the Peloton App. Peloton App for Apple iOS is compatible with the following devices:
