Experience the Magic: Peloton's Top Theme Rides, Runs and Classes

This weekend, I rode one of the newest Peloton theme rides. The class was about 30 minutes long and Denis Morton was the instructor.

This Eminem cycling class was actually the latest addition to the Peloton Artist Series classes that feature Eminem’s music. Peloton also introduced three Eminem shadowboxing classes with Kendall Toole and Selena Samuela, along with Rad Lopez. This was part of the new boxing-themed classes.

Robin Arzon also taught a 20 minute Eminem core strength class. Adrian Williams also taught a 45 minute Tread bootcamp to Eminem’s music.

This is just one example of how Peloton’s theme classes go beyond just being rides. Peloton has many classes: running, strength, and walking, as well as yoga flows, strength, and even yoga classes. You can even earn special badges for taking one of these Peloton-themed classes.

Why not write about Peloton’s theme rides, runs, and classes?

This article is about the different themed classes on Peloton. It was written because people are confused about where to look for them, what qualifies as a workout or theme ride, and what artists are included in these collections.

This is your Peloton theme-ride guide. It will answer common questions such as:

  • What is the Peloton Artist Series?
  • How can you locate the artist series on your Peloton?
  • Where can I find the Artist Series rides and classes on Peloton?
  • What are the top Peloton theme ride experiences?

Definition of a Peloton-themed ride or class

There are two definitions when I talk about the Peloton theme exercises. Each one will be explained below.

Peloton workouts are based on different music genres

Themes are based on musical genres. There are Broadway and Disney-themed rides, runs, and classes.

There are also themes that are based on the music genre. This could be R&B, country or alternative.

There are also classes, rides and runs that focus on specific decades of music. It could be the 60s, 70s 80s, 90s and 2000s or 2010. You might be wondering when Peloton will add music in the 2020s.

The Artist Series is part the themed rides

There are also the Peloton Artist Series classes. These classes are just like they sound: a collection of runs, rides, classes, and workouts inspired by a particular artist or band.

Peloton programs may also include themes

There are also themed classes that are based on the Peloton programs. All Power Zone rides would fall under this category.

Even themed rides can have their own themes. There are Power Zone Rock rides and Power Zone eighties rides, each with a different theme.

You want to know more about Power Zone Training? Here you go.

Peloton instructors lead med rides

Peloton offers theme classes that are based on the instructors. Most of these classes are held on the bike, according to my knowledge.

There are some regular programming like Sundays with Love (Ally Love), as well as the Jess King Experience which is truly an experience. Look up Rocky Horror JKE, which is short for Jess King Experience. This theme ride features all the current Peloton instructors along with her.

Peloton also offers other instructor-specific workouts from time to time, but they are all grouped under Collections. This includes:

  • Jenn Sherman’s Epic Sing a Long Ride
  • XOXO Cody rides with Cody Rigsby
  • Movie Buff with Kendall Toole
  • Club Bangers with Alex Toussaint

Themed workouts can also be created for holidays and celebrations

Each year, Peloton instructors record holiday lessons. Holiday classes can refer to two holidays where you might be required to wear a costume. This would include Christmas and Halloween.

Matty Maggiacomo might be seen leading a Tread class dressed as The Grinch, either for Halloween or Christmas. Other instructors also dress up. My favorite Halloween ride was the one where Matt Wilpers dressed as Olivia Amato, a fellow instructor.

You can also take Christmas yoga classes. Search for “holiday yoga” to find them. Then click the preview button to see what Christmas or other holiday music is in the class.

Peloton also often uses monthly themes to reflect current events. For example, classes based on Black History month would be created in February.

Peloton classes and rides based on music genres

Peloton instructors often create classes around music. Christine D’Ercole taught a New Wave Wednesday class when I got my Peloton in 2016. Unfortunately, all of those classes have been discontinued. She continues to teach New Wave and other music classes.

Some instructors design classes around a particular music genre or musical decade. Anna Greenberg recently tried an alternative music yoga flow. My post on Peloton walking classes will tell you that I love Jess Sims outdoor walking, audio-only music class. It’s all jock music.

How can you locate music theme classes?

Use the filter to locate a class themed for you. This applies to any music-themed class you search for on the Peloton website, app, or hardware (Bike+, Tread, or Bike+). Each will have its own instructions.

How to locate music-themed classes on the Peloton app

You can use the Collections tab on the Peloton App to locate a music-themed class. Also, these steps are available:

  1. Start the Peloton App
  2. You are now in the Classes section. Next, select the class that interests you (Strength, Yoga or other).
  3. Tap Filter
  4. Tap Music
  5. Scroll down to view your music choices

Choose from a variety of music themes using the filter

These are your options for music themes

  • Alternate
  • Classic Rock
  • Country
  • Electronic
  • Hip Hop
  • Indie
  • Latin
  • Pop
  • R&B
  • Rock

These options are available in almost every class of Peloton.

It’s quite surprising that no class category has classical music. I am aware that I have taken Christine on classical music rides and that I have done a walk with Becs Gentry in classical music.

Meditation is the only class that doesn’t offer a choice in music genres or themes. This makes sense, as you can’t meditate to classic rock or country music. You might be able to meditate, but I prefer something more relaxing and instrumental.

How to locate music-themed classes on Peloton hardware (Bike Plus, Tread),

Logging into your Tread, Bike Plus, or Bike Plus account will allow you to find music and other themed classes. These are the steps you need to follow.

  1. Tap Classes at the bottom of your screen
  2. Look in the upper left corner of the screen for Collections.
  3. Tap Collections
  4. Scroll down to select which class series you wish to take

You can also find music-themed classes on the Bike by using Bike Plus, Tread or the Bike Plus.

  1. To get to classes, follow the steps outlined above
  2. For filters, look in the upper right corner.
  3. Tap Filters
  4. Choose music
  5. Choose the genre that interests you

This is the third and final method to locate music-themed classes on the Bike Plus, Bike Plus, or Tread.

  1. To get to classes, follow the steps outlined above
  2. Tap the Spyglass in the upper right corner
  3. Enter the music genre, decade, or artist you are interested in.

If you search by decade or genre, your results will display as a collection of music artists.

How to use the search function of the Peloton

Following the steps above, I typed Classical. I wanted to find out how many classes and rides there were for classical music. My results did not include all the Classical Music rides or yoga flows that I was looking for.

You could also include the phrase “Classic” and “Classics” to find a variety of Classic Rock rides, as well as a Sam Yo Holiday Classics Ride. It would seem that the Peloton search filter would have more advanced results than these.

How to locate music-themed classes on the Peloton site

My home has a Roku TV downstairs that features the Peloton channel. Below are instructions on how to use a Smart TV to locate classes.

To do non-bike classes, however, I use my laptop upstairs. If you are like me, and want to access Peloton via a browser: Here’s how to find a music-themed class via the website.

  1. Visit the Peloton website
  2. Click on “My Memberships”
  3. Click on Next Steps
  4. Select the class category you wish to enroll in.
  5. Click on the Filter at the upper right hand corner
  6. Select Music from the dropdown menu

You can also select Collections from the top menu to search in that manner.

The search function was added to the Peloton website. Yeah! Yes!

This is my blog post about how to search for Peloton classes.

How to locate music-themed Peloton classes for Smart TV

These are the steps that I would take if I were to locate a themed music class for my Roku TV.

  1. Select the Peloton channel
  2. Click on My Profile
  3. Navigate to the left-hand menu
  4. Select the class you wish to take
  5. To filter the screen, click over to Filter in the top right
  6. Scroll down to Music, and click that. You’ll find the options for music categories.

Where can I find the Artist Series rides, classes and other information on the Peloton app?

You can find the Peloton Artists Series rides or classes by going to Collections. When you open the app, take a look at the icons at the top. The following is what you will see:

  • Classes
  • Programmes
  • Collections
  • Schedule

Opening Collections in the Peloton App

Scroll down to Artist Series by tapping Collections. Because the Artist Series doesn’t include rides on the Peloton, it will be listed as cross-training. There are Tread and Outdoor audio-only classes, strength classes, and yoga flows.

This is how the Peloton describes the Artist Series when it launches on the app:

“Your favorite artists. All your favorite instructors. All your favorite instructors in one location. You can take any class on the Tread, Bike or app.

At the time of writing, there are 427 classes available in the Peloton Artist Series. The musical artists are listed alphabetically by their first names (which is how Peloton arranges these themed classes). This list of artists can be accessed via the internet or the Peloton hardware.

How I selected which artists to include in my list

As long as there are at most two classes per musician, I have included them. You’ll also notice that the Artist Series may sometimes include one-off rides, such as the Cody Backstreet Boys ride and Denis’ Weezer ride. This is one of my favorite things about the Peloton app.

The Collections include specific artists

You can find individual collections in the Peloton Artist Series as well as the Peloton Artist Series. These are artist-specific classes.

Scroll down past the Artist Series, which appears right at the top, to find individual artists whose classes can also be organized in Collections.

This would also include Red Taylor Swift classes grouped together. The same applies to David Bowie, The Beatles and USHER.

Where can I find the Peloton Artist Series rides and classes on this website, Bike or Tread?

It’s simple to locate the Peloton artist series if you have access to your Peloton classes via a browser or laptop. Log in, then click on Collections at the top of your browser screen.

You’ll find all the Artist series classes and rides under Collections, as well as many other themed classes offered by Peloton. I plan to also take the Boxing series that has just been launched, and earn the new Boxing badge.

You’ll also need to follow the same steps to access the Peloton Artist Series for the Bike, Tread, and Bike+. Scroll down and look for the Collections.

Disney Peloton Rides&Classes

The Disney rides are perhaps the most loved theme rides that Peloton has created in recent years. To be precise, Disney classes. These themed workouts don’t involve riding on the Peloton bicycle.

Mariana Fernandez led the Encanto Yoga Flow. Encanto is a Disney movie, I’m sure.

Also, Kristin McGee, a certified instructor, will lead a 20 minute Fit Family Flow: Disney class in yoga. The playlist features songs from Moana, “The Lion King”, “Aladdin” among others.

Another Fit Family Fun: Disney class is also available. It’s only fifteen minutes long and is by Jess Sims. The music is all from “The Lion King”, “The Little Mermaid”, and “Aladdin.”

Spotify Disney Hits in Peloton Artists Series: Theme Classes

Another collection of Disney rides and runs is available. It is located under Collections on both the website and the Peloton app.

It’s the Spotify Disney Hits classes. There are currently four, and they include:

  1. 30-minute Spotify Disney Hits Yoga Flow With Aditi Shah
  2. Rebecca Kennedy leads a 20-minute Spotify Disney Hits Bodyweight Strength class
  3. 20-minute Spotify Disney Hits Ride With Cody Rigsby
  4. Spotify Disney Hits Run 30 Minutes with Becs Gentry

Peloton Broadway theme classes

You can find the Peloton Broadway theme runs, classes and rides in a variety of ways. You can begin in the Peloton Artists Series. This is located under Collections. Scroll down to find your favorite Broadway shows.

These are the things I have found so far:

  • Hamilton
  • In the Heights
  • Rent
  • Wicked

The Peloton app, website, and hardware (aka the Bike Plus, Bike Plus, and Tread) feature the Collections series.

Peloton is searching for Broadway-themed classes

You can also search for the Bike Plus, Bike Plus, or Tread. Begin by attending classes. Next, look for the search spyglass. Tap that. Next, type Broadway or the show you are looking for. You can refine your search by using the search results, which will include specific songs. It will also show you classes with Broadway-themed songs.

Another option is available. Scroll down to find the Broadway Series by going back under Collections. It currently has 18 classes and includes all the shows I mentioned above plus a Mamma Mia ride (probably in conjunction with the ABBA themed classes).

Holiday Collection: Themed Classes

Peloton is known for their holiday rides. Primarily, instructors will be dressed in costume for Halloween and the December holidays.

You can get into the Christmas spirit by looking for two classes under Collections. The Holiday Collection has 70 rides, runs, and classes to holiday music. These are holiday-themed workouts.

There are two classes: Stacking Stuffers. Another series of holiday-themed workouts, but this time without holiday music.

Peloton introduced Stacking Stuffers 2021, and I loved them. These are 15-minute classes in any genre that can be stacked for a workout. Thus, Stacking Stuffers.

This is my blog post about how to stack Peloton Classes

Peloton classes that are heritage and identity-themed

Peloton celebrates, as I mentioned in the intro, certain heritage- and identity-themed weeks and months such as February or Black History Month.

May is also Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month. This is how Peloton describes the specific themed collection.

“Join Us as We Celebrate the Beauty and Strength of the Asian Pacific Islander Community. We’re celebrating this diverse culture through music, themed classes, and other activities throughout the month.

Silk Sonic classes are one of the many music themes and artists that will be featured during Asian Pacific Island Heritage Month. Why Silk Sonic? It’s a combination of Anderson Paak (half Korean) and Bruno Mars (born in Hawaii).

It also houses a Bollywood Pilates class led by Aditi Shah, and a K-Pop ride with Ally Love.

You’ll also find other classes related to heritage and identity in Collections.

  • Latinx Heritage Month
  • Pride
  • Women’s History Month

Peloton themed classes receive special badges

You’ll love this part of taking Peloton theme classes, if you’re a Peloton badge aficionado (I mean, a badge aficionado), then you’ll love earning special theme badges.

Peloton, for example, launched the Red Taylor Swift class collection in December 2021. They also launched two Taylor Swift badges as part a Artist Series challenge. They were both my choice.

So I spent one day of my workout taking Taylor Swift classes in order to earn both the Red (Taylor’s Version), and the Super Swiftie Badge. Which classes did you take to earn these badges?

  • 20 Minute Red Core Class (Taylor’s Edition) with Robin Arzon
  • Yoga Flow for 30 Minutes Red (Taylor’s version) with Anna Greenberg
  • Stretch with Ben Alldis for 10 minutes Red (Taylor’s Version).

Where can you find the themed badges that you have earned?

To see the number of themed badges that you have collected over time, log into your Peloton account and click Achievements. All badges can be found under Special Events. These badges have been awarded to me recently for attending certain themed classes.

  • David Bowie 2022
  • Latinx Heritage Month 2021
  • Stacking Stuffers 2021
  • The Beatles Artist Series
  • Women’s History Month 2021
  • World Mental Health Day 2021
  • APIHM 2021
  • Broadway Series 2021

Best Peloton theme rides

Everyone’s tastes in music and theme are different. These are my personal favorites, and I think they are the best and most enjoyable theme rides on Peloton.

  • Robin Arzon Lizzo Ride 8/2/19
  • Christine D’Ercole P.nk Ride 11/1/19. (Note: When searching for this class you must use the exclamation mark in her name and not the “i”.
  • Denis Morton Weezer Ride 1/2/20
  • Christine D’Ercole Women’s History Month Rider 3/8/20
  • Emma Lovewell Foo Fighters’ Ride 11/17/21
  • Jess King Experience 11/21/19 - All of the instructors
  • Sam Yo AC/DC Ride 12/1/21

I have noticed that the best theme music rides I believe are in the “before time”, when there were other riders in Peloton’s studio. Perhaps it’s because I had the opportunity to ride in the studio live with Matt Wilpers, Christine D’Ercole. It was great to be there live.

The energy and enthusiasm in the studio was amazing. I also loved how different the instructors were when teaching to the camera.

Those are my last thoughts about Peloton-themed rides, runs, and classes. Let me know your favorite Peloton themed runs, rides and classes. Did I leave out any information about themed workouts or exercises? Let me know if you have any questions.
