These are the top questions I receive about Peloton bikes. Peloton bike shoes seem to be the most common place where people fall. And I get it.

Before I bought bike shoes

Prior to getting my Peloton shoes, I used regular sneakers to ride my regular bicycle. My pedals did not have shoe or toe cages. However, I had never used clip-in shoes on a roadbike.

This all changed in 2016, when we bought our Peloton bike. The bike came with a pair of shoes free of charge. My husband and I both have wide feet. His high arch might make it more difficult for his feet to fit.

How we picked our cycling shoes

When it was time to pick the Peloton bicycle shoes, we chose a pair for him. Later, I will discuss where I found the Peloton spin shoes that I bought. I think you’ll enjoy reading this article if you are looking for shoes to cycle with wide feet, regardless of whether you have a Peloton.

Peloton bikes shoes now available

Peloton introduced a new model of their bicycle shoes in 2022. They are called Altos and look more like the Tiem or Nike Super Reps you might see instructors wearing.

The Altos are more like a tennis shoe or sneaker than a spin shoe. They are more flexible than the original Peloton bicycle shoes and more comfortable. This review is based on the Peloton original shoes, which my husband and I both currently wear.

Peloton compatible shoes is what I mean. The clip or cleat that attaches to the shoe’s bottom is compatible with the Peloton pedal. The Look Delta cleat is used for the pedals. It’s a red triangle, hence the Delta.

As I mentioned, the Peloton bike came with a pair of shoes. My husband received the pair of shoes for free.

Here’s my opinion on the Peloton shoe size. My husband is a 13EEE shoe size. Those are wide feet. Peloton chose a size 47 when choosing the shoes for its bike ride.

First, let me say that he was confused by the European sizing. He didn’t know how to convert a size 13 into size 40. I can recall him asking me, “What size Peloton shoes should you get?”

Peloton doesn’t offer a shoe size chart nor a shoe sizing guide. However, the website does have size “translations” that can be used in the cart. He was able to see that a 47 was a men’s 13.

Half sizes in Peloton bike shoes

But, if he were a regular shoe size 12.5, I would have recommended him to go up. Peloton bikes shoes aren’t available in half sizes.

There are no half sizes in women’s sizes (which you can see by scrolling down), For someone like me with wide, hard-to-fit feet, I believe that sizing up is better than sizing down. Peloton shoes are best sized up than down.

Peloton bike shoes for men

If you’re looking for the best Peloton brand of cycling shoes for men, here are some things you should know. The Peloton men’s bike shoes are not available in every size. There are only two sizes that can be considered equivalent to a half size. These would be men’s sizes 10.5 and 13.5.

What sizes are they available in? These are the Peloton bicycle shoes sizes for men. This is your Peloton shoe size chart.

40 (which is equivalent to men’s size 7).
41 (which is equivalent to men’s size 8).
42 (which is equivalent to men’s size 9).
43 is equivalent to men’s size 10.
44 is equivalent to men’s 10.5.
45 is equivalent to men’s size 11.
46 is equivalent to men’s 12
47 is equivalent to men’s size 13.
48 is equivalent to men’s 13.5.

Men’s shoe sizes range from American size 7 to American size 13.5. This range should fit most men’s feet.

Women’s Peloton shoes are not available in half sizes

The women’s Peloton shoe does not have the same half-size as the men’s Peloton footwear. If you have half-sized feet, this can be frustrating.

My older daughter just bought a Peloton bike. She is a size 9.5 in shoes. What did she do to order shoes? She chose either size 41 or 10. She ordered the size 41 or the size 10.

Converting shoes sizes

With both of these communities in mind I researched shoe sizes. It turns out, it is easy to convert big-sized youth shoes or big-kid shoe sizes to small-sized women’s shoes.

To get the youth size, or big kids size, subtract two from your women’s measurement. Below is the womens-to-kids size shoe chart. It can be printed out on my printable pages.

Fun fact for the shortie tribe, youth shoes can often be cheaper than regular adult shoes. To save money, shop in the youth section if your feet are smaller.

Kids Peloton bike shoes

This information is very useful if you are looking for children’s cycling shoes for Peloton. These shoes are available in youth sizes, as they can be worn as low as a women’s 5 size.

To convert women’s sizes to youth sizes, the formula is to subtract 1.5 to 2. For example, a woman weighing 5 lbs would be sized down to a youth weighing 3 or 3.5.

Sizes for women and men in the Peloton shoe range

If you select from sizes 40-44, the size charts will show you the sizes for women _or_men. Peloton’s bike shoes are $125 regardless of size.

It’s good that they don’t discriminate on the basis of gender or foot size. You can still do better than $125 for spinning or cycling shoes. This will be addressed in a later article.

How do the Peloton Shoes fit?

Bill is a tall man, as I mentioned. Peloton’s bike shoes are not available in different widths. He was concerned that his wide feet and high arches would make it difficult to fit the shoes.

So, do Peloton shoes fit wide feet? Guess what? They fit perfectly. They were a bit snug at the front.

The Velcro straps at the top gave him the ability to have a high arch. The ratchet strap allowed for enough space to allow the shoes to fit comfortably but not too tightly.

Half sizes are recommended. Peloton spin shoes can run small, according to some people.

Some people, such as my husband, feel that they fit true-to-size. He’s a 13-year-old man and was able to order a 43-inch Peloton spin shoe.

It’s true, I will say it again. It’s better to go up if you are a half-size.

Wide widths are another alternative to the Peloton cycling shoes

There are many other options if you don’t want to purchase your Peloton bike shoes online. In 2016, I bought my Bontrager brand bike footwear at my local bicycle shop.

My husband has wide feet. They recommended that I go with a brand that could take the Look Delta cleat. I chose the Bontrager brand.

FYI, everyday shoes can be anything from an 8WWW to a 9. Sometimes, I am an 8.5.

A size 42 was the equivalent of a size 9 in my bike shoes. This brand was equivalent to a size 9. It was the equivalent of a size 9. The inside label actually states “wide.”

How long can the shoes of Peloton last?

You’ll sweat a lot riding your Peloton, trust me. This includes your feet. A pair of shoes that aren’t spin can’t be put in the washer like a pair sneakers. You don’t want your insides to become sweaty.

Wear thin socks that are moisture-wicking to match your cycling shoes. Bombas and Swiftwick are my favorite brands.

Overall Thoughts

You can probably find cheaper cycling shoes than $125 on Peloton’s website. Remember that you sometimes get what you pay.

My Peloton cycling shoes cost me about $100. They’ve been around since 2016, just like the Peloton cycling shoes.

You could pay twice if you buy cheap bike shoes. You will have to replace the shoes or your feet hurt.

You should also be able at one point to visit a local cycle shop. You can also have your bike shoes fitted by a professional. You will also be supporting a local company.

Finally, and this is worth repeating: When you buy Peloton spin shoes, make sure they have three holes at the bottom. These shoes are compatible with the Look Delta cleat. These can be clipped to the pedals included with your bike.
